Facing challenges can often be paralyzing. Recently facing a situation, where I needed to make decisions for the care of a family member, I realized I became very overwhelmed by all that needed to be done and/or decided. It’s like running from an alligator through a pile of snakes. It’s easy to be so fearful about taking the wrong step that you find yourself not wanting to move or decide at all. But, just like running a marathon, it’s so important then to only focus on the one step you CAN take. Sometimes that means acknowledging the steps that are not possible for you. I myself was not going to be able to move a piano by myself which meant the next decision was do I just leave it or do I hire help to move it? It’s similar to the old joke: how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.
