Fearless: without fear; brave or bold; not afraid of anyone or anything.
Joy: the expression or display of glad feeling.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”James 1:2-3
Throughout trials, I am always tempted to wait until everything has settled before letting go of emotions like fear, anxiety, worry, sadness. I always have to remind myself that “perfect conditions” will not create joy nor is it required for joy. I am reminded of the children in the slums of India finding ways to play and laugh. I think of races that I have run where runners around me remain kind and supportive in spite of difficulties like rain, intense heat, or the challenges of mile 22. I remind myself of those flowers that grow on the interstate only surrounded and pushing through concrete. All of these thoughts help me remember that the “soil” I am in does not dictate how or whether I bloom. I remember to have fearless joy and not wait for the good times before being joyful. After all, joy helps the soul, heart, and mind. Be joyful, no matter what. Don’t allow anyone or anything to steal your joy.
